I did my First Portrait Photography in 2023 with my Hasselblad Medium Format Camera. On the second day of January 2023, I was going to work. In the Morning was amazing sunlight, and it is difficult to find this kind of light for photography in Berlin. I met our Art Director Florian, I asked if I could take some portraits of him. He said yes, and I used this bright moment to capture my first photos of 2023.

My gear, for First Portrait Photography in 2023

I shot these photos with a Hasselblad 500c camera, which is the first camera that humans took a photos with, this series on the Moon.

Hasselblad 500c Camera

The Hasselblad 500c is a medium-format film camera that was first introduced in 1957. It is a favorite among professional photographers for its high image quality, durable construction, and versatile features.

One of the key features of the Hasselblad 500c is its medium-format film camera. The camera uses 120 or 220-roll film, which is larger than 35 mm film, resulting in larger negatives and higher image resolution. This makes the Hasselblad 500c ideal for capturing fine details and producing large, high-quality prints.

The camera’s design is also a standout feature. The Hasselblad 500c has a modular design, which allows for easy customization and upgrades. The camera’s body and lens can be easily separated, allowing for the use of different film backs, viewfinders, and lenses. This makes the Hasselblad 500c a versatile camera that can be tailored to the specific needs of the photographer.

Another important aspect of the Hasselblad 500c is its durability. The camera is made of solid metal, which makes it rugged and resistant to wear and tear. This makes the camera a reliable choice for professional photographers who need a camera that can withstand the rigors of regular use.

The Hasselblad 500c also features a wide range of lenses, which provides photographers with a variety of creative options. The camera’s lens mount is compatible with a wide range of lenses, including standard, wide-angle, and telephoto lenses. This allows photographers to capture a wide range of subjects and scenes.

In conclusion, the Hasselblad 500c is a highly respected and sought-after camera among photographers. Its high image quality, durable construction, and versatile features make it a perfect choice for professional photographers who need a reliable and customizable camera that can produce high-quality images. Despite its age, it still holds its own among newer and more advanced cameras. Read more

Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f/4 Lens

The Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f/4 lens is a high-quality, medium-telephoto lens that is favored by many professional photographers for its sharpness, bokeh, and build quality.

One of the standout features of this lens is its sharpness. The lens has been designed to produce sharp and clear images with minimal distortion, even when shot at its maximum aperture of f/4. This makes it ideal for portrait and landscape photography, as well as other types of photography that require a sharp, detailed image.

Another important aspect of the Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f/4 lens is its bokeh or the way out of focus areas of the image are rendered. The lens has a unique optical design that produces a smooth and pleasing bokeh, which makes it perfect for portraits and other types of photography where a soft, dreamy background is desired.

The build quality of the Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f/4 lens is also noteworthy. The lens is constructed with high-quality materials and is built to last. The lens is also weather-sealed, which provides added protection against dust and moisture, making it suitable for use in a variety of shooting conditions.

This lens is also compatible with a wide range of cameras, including both full-frame and crop-sensor cameras. This makes it a versatile lens that can be used by photographers of all levels, from amateurs to professionals.

My Film

I used 120 mm FOMAPAN, 400 ISO Black and white Film and I developed it by myself. FOMA is a brand from the Czech Republic, that is not an expensive Film when you compare it with ILFORD.

As a professional photographer, I love analog photography, and every time I develop and print my photos by myself. After developing my Film, I made a Contact Print from The photos. For this Contact Sheet also, I used multigrid FOMA paper.

However, for making another Print I used ILFORD Photography Paper, which was a Gift from My Berlin-based photographer Friend Charlotte.
