I did Portrait photography with Instax Camera at the Karl Lagerfeld store in Berlin Kudamm store. it was the first time I was shooting portraits with a Polaroid camera. It was an Idea from Karl Lagerfeld’s Marketing department, they wanted to take black-and-white photos that fit Karl’s personality. I have already 2 Polaroid Camera, but they wanted me to photograph with instax Camera , this cameras has a cheaper film sheets and they are smaller than old Polaroid films. Photo shooting with instax camera was fun. Thanks a lot for Karl Lagerfeld team.

How my journey with Portrait photography with Instax Camera started

One day Karl Lagergeld team contacted me and asked:

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out from the Retail Marketing Team at KARL LAGERFELD.

 We are currently in search of a Black & White photographer for an upcoming event at our Berlin Ku’Damm store. The tentative date for the event is September 7th, with the final date yet to be confirmed.

Could you kindly inform us of your availability during these dates?

 Additionally, we would appreciate it if you could provide the following details:

• A quotation for your services
• Information on any previous collaborations with fashion brands, including examples of photo shoots if available

I answered:Thanks you so much for your email. Yes I am available. Could you please give me more information?

again they asked: Hello Ed,

Hope all is well.

Thank you for your prompt response.

We are looking for a black-and-white event photoshoot with an artistic approach, the idea would be to give a vintage touch to the pictures. The concept of the event draws inspiration from the timeless black-and-white style of Karl Lagerfeld. 

The event should last about 4-5 hours and the number of people depends from the amount of customers will visit the shop on that day.

The idea is for the photographer to take pictures of the guests, which will be printed directly on location.A calligrapher will then sign the photographs using red markers, labeling each picture with a word that best describes ‘an icon’ for the guest.
