I found this second-hand Agfa Synchro Box Camera when I was walking in a flea market in Berlin in January 2024 on a cold but sunny Sunday. When I took this camera home and tried to check inside for cleaning, I got a surprise. There was an exposed old Agfa film inside the camera. I will try to develop this film, I’m wondering about the photos.

As you know, when the film is exposed, you can’t wait and develop it after 30 years. But I photographed with a film that expired 15 years ago, and I had amazing results, I love the photos.

How to take photos with Agfa Box Camera

This camera is a medium format camera, and you need to use 120 films. The frame size is 6×9. It means at the end you will have 8 photos.

The lens and Sutter speed

The lens is a fixed-focus lens. The shutter speed is also fixed, and you only have a 50th of a second. But besides this, the camera has a Bulb setting for long exposures. Also, there are 2 Tripod mounts for vertical and horizontal photography.

Aperture

Agfa Box has 2 aperture options, one is F16, another one is F11. On the right side of the lens, there is a metal thing next to the lens, when you pull it out first on with a smaller HOL is F16, if you PUL it out one more time it’s F11, and there is one more with a yellow filter.

Use Tripod

This camera has a slower shutter speed, for this reason, I recommend you to take your photos on a Tripod with a shutter release cable.
