1-Shakespeare & Sons – Fine Bagels

The earliest record of a bagel in Fine family lore is from 1897, when our great-great-grandfather, Hyman Cooper, declared that he was moving from Warsaw to New York City because “The bagels are better.” He ended up in Boston running a fix-it shop, not a bagel shop. Nonetheless, four generations later, the family remains both devoted to and fussy about bagels.

Specialty English-language bookstore based in Friedrichshain, Berlin, running alongside the Fine Bagels bagel bakery and café.

2-Coffee Drink Your Monkey

Drink Your Monkey was only a short walk from our hotel, so we decided to try it for breakfast. It is beautifully decorated with colorful wallpaper and there were fresh flowers on each table. We sat by the window, and it was lovely to start our day in Berlin eating freshly baked pastries and yogurt with fruit and berries. My sandwich was fresh and very tasty – and wrapped in brown paper with paper yarn. I liked those little details. Wonderful place to start your morning with good coffee and reading the newspaper etc. Great service and cozy atmosphere.

Address: Savignyplatz 11, Berlin, Germany

3-St. Oberholz Coffee Rosenthaler

This Coffee was founded in 2005, today it entirely takes up what was the old Aschinger building. The café extends from the first floor to the first floor, with a working area. Address: Rosenthaler Str. 72A, 10119 Berlin

4-CODOS Invalidenstraße 1

This is one of my favorite coffee places in Berlin. Their peanut butter cake is amazing, and so are the other pastries. The coffee is tasty, and the team is friendly. Next to the windows, you will get enough light to take great portraits of your subject.

Address: Invalidenstraße 1, 10115 Berlin

5-The Greens

The Greens is a plant and coffee lover’s dream. Every corner of this hidden café in Mitte is brimming with life. You’ll find a plethora of indoor plants in practically every free space in this adorable café, making it a relaxing and zen spot in the city.
