Last month I had an amazing photography session in Berlin, I did Analog portrait photography with Victoria Depta. Victoria is a young model who started modeling at age 17. She did her first professional photo shoot with me 1 week before she became in her 18. Usually, fashion models start to work at very young ages. That is why, as a professional photographer, I never work with underage models directly. However, she had a contract from Modelwerk modeling agency, which made the legal process easier for me.

I do not want to be arrogant, but Victoria was lucky that she did this photo shoot with me because the photos that we made were published in ELLE Magazine. I used lighting techniques to make the photos interesting and creative. Of course, it’s teamwork. Also, my makeup artist friend Eleonore Ising did a great job and Victoria did her best.
The Camera that I used was a Canon AE1 with a 50mm lens. I used 135mm black and white Foma film.
For the development process, I used Rodinal Developer and I used Photography Darkroom at the Berlin University of Art. I love analog photography and developing and printing photos. It reminds me of my teenage years when I was 13 years old, I was working in the Analog Photography Lab. For me, analog photography is still magic.
Since I moved to Europe, I started to come back to analog photography. At the moment I love to take analog portraits, I love the contrast between dark and shadow without any colors. I like this surrealism in photography.
Below this post, I posted some photos and videos from the process of these photos, if you can’t see them, please open them on a new page.
